Cutback Bitumen
Description
Cutback bitumen is produced by adding solvents (like naphtha or kerosene) to reduce viscosity, enabling easy application at lower temperatures. The solvent gradually evaporates, leaving the bitumen to cure.
Types
Rapid Curing (RC): Fast evaporation rate, ideal for surface dressing.
Medium Curing (MC): Slower evaporation, often used in cold applications.
Slow Curing (SC): Even slower evaporation, suitable for prime coats and pre-mixed asphalt.
Applications
Used in spray sealing and coating applications where temperature is a constraint, particularly in maintenance and repair.
